Nine laymen became Oblate associates after their engagement received by Congo's provincial superior, Father Constant Kienge-Kienge, on Sunday, July 25. They became members of the Missionary Association of Mary Immaculate (AMMI). Five others made their final commitment.

Father Wilfried Gitembo presided the Mass of engagement in the parish church Christ-Sauveur of Kinshasa-Selembao. In his homily, Father Kienge-Kienge invited the faithful to join the lay associates of the Oblates to live the charism of Saint Eugene de Mazenod and to work for the poor and for their own sanctification.

Louis Kitenge, president of the lay associates in DRC and Angola, presented the list of new associates and those who made their final commitment. Here are the names and parishes of the 8 who made the first commitment:
