Initial and final commitments of Lay Associates in Kikwit, 2024

On Sunday, August 11, 2024, 19th Sunday of ordinary time in liturgical year B, was in Kikwit, in the parish Our Lady of the Rosary, the occasion for the Provincial Superior, Reverend Father Constant Kienge-Kienge, to accept initial and definitive commitments of lay associates of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate, members of the Missionary Association of Mary Immaculate (AMMI).

Kikwit District, under the leadership of Coordinator Martin KISSI, presented 08 candidates for initial engagement and 05 missionary associates for final engagement. Of the 08 initial candidates, we have Elie KIDUMU, Charlotte KINDENDE, Drayal LOMBOMBO, Ginette MBEMBE, Daniel MIONGO, Evelyne MUPEPE, Marilyn MUPEPE MWANATI and Sarah OBUKU.

And of the 05 final associates, we have Serge MBAKANGA, Heir MIKABA, Anne NGULU, Clemence NOMANIATH and Gauthier NSOMA.

For the occasion, a delegation from the Provincial Committee, consisting of the Association's President a.i., Mr Louis KITENGE; the Association's Secretary, Mr Arthur Dany KALULA; the Coordinator of the Kinshasa District, Mr Bellarmin AKELEWA; as well as two associates, Ms Félicité NZUZI and Mr Hussein LUHANGA, joined the Provincial Superior in Kikwit on Thursday 08 to support our colleagues and thus demonstrate membership of the same Oblate family.

As usual, on the eve of each commitment, a recollection is organized to deepen the teachings for both applicants and other associates. On Saturday 10, Father Don Bosco MIKWA, omi, animated the recollection under the theme of " self-oblation", after the exhortation of the Provincial Superior in introduction. Father Mikwa articulated his presentation around 4 points, namely at the School of Jesus, the Magisterium of the Church, Renewal in the Church and Commitment as Missionary Associate of Mary Immaculate.
The Eucharistic celebration began at 6:30 pm, presided over by the Provincial Superior, assisted by Reverend Father Jean-Marie WENZE, parish priest, Father Don Bosco MIKWA, parish priest of PANU and three priests of the diocese of Kikwit. Our 13 candidates for engagement took place in the procession.

After the liturgy of the word, before the homily, the President of AMMI calls the 13 candidates who stand before the altar to answer the question of the Provincial Superior on their desire, to which they all agreed to engage in the service of the Lord. And the Mass continued with the homily.
After the homily, the President of AMMI recalled the first group of 08 candidates for appointment. Then he recalls the second group of associates of the final commitment. As their commitment was confirmed by the signing of the act, all the associates present at the Mass went before the altar to sing the hymn created by Father Matthew NGWANGU, omi, "Pilgrims of Hope". There was a great ovation of the assembly. Then the Mass continued normally until the end.
In the evening, around 17:00, all the partners met with the few guests to provide it for the joys in a very family atmosphere, of great charity in sharing.
