The Bishop of Matadi, in the province of Kongo-central, Bishop André-Giraud Pindi, wishes the presence of the Oblate missionaries of Mary Immaculate for the next parish to be erected in Lufu, a town on the border between the DRC and Angola. The bishop expressed his wish to the provincial superior of the Oblates, Father Constant Kienge-Kienge, on Sunday, July 07. They found themselves in the parish of St Joseph of Songolo, served by Oblate missionaries since 2017. The bishop conferred the sacrament of confirmation on Sunday, July 07.
In his joy of seeing ever-increasing collaboration between the diocese of Matadi and the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate of the Congo, Bishop André-Giraud Pindi did not fail to express his gratitude to this religious family who have been working in his diocese for about eight years. In his word before the end of the Eucharistic celebration, the Ordinary of the place has even promised to erect in parishes certain sub-posts, including Lufu-Border and Mbata-Nkenge, which so far are part of the parish of Saint Joseph of Songolo. He will entrust them to the IMO, he said. He relies on the Provincial to whom he solicits priests.
Note:
« In June 2016, the Provincial Abel Nsolo decided in council, in response to the missionary calls of the diocese of Matadi (Kongo-Central Province), a new settlement in Songolo, about ten kilometres from the Angolan border. Fathers Berthier Eyer and Betuel Kinangeni, assigned to this mission, arrived there on Saturday, February 25, 2017, accompanied by provincial vicar Paul Manessa and the superior of the Angolan mission, Adrien Gesse. The ceremony of the installation of the new missionaries took place on Sunday, 26 February, during a Eucharistic celebration presided over by Bishop N的Landu, bishop of Matadi, surrounded by some priests of the diocese. » (Manimba carrier, History of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate in DR Congo and Angola, Baobab, Kinshasa, 2017, p. 141-142)
