The provincial superior of the Congo, Father Constant Kienge-Kienge, presided over a workshop in Kikwit from July 11 to 12, bringing together Oblate heads of secondary and higher education institutions. The Rector of De Mazenod University, Father Macaire Manimba, presided over the work with Father Deogratias Mukomo, coordinator of Oblate schools. Ten other confreres came from Kinshasa, Kikwit, Lozo, Panu and Ifwanzondo. They are members of the Education Commission for the Oblate Province of Congo.

The workshop was held to recast a joint educational project. The provincial superior invited the participants to take action to reaffirm not only the primary mission of education but also to reaffirm the Oblate identity and to radiate the Oblate charism, to make discover the Oblate lifestyle.

Having a common vision of education guided by Oblate charism will certainly lead to aiming for excellence and transforming the milieu. The Oblate mission will thus focus on the formation and education of people on conscience and responsibility, respect for cultures and to promote intellectual and social development, to promote social inclusion.

The teaching leaders focused on the values to be promoted in Oblate schools and those entrusted to them: honesty, truth, solidarity and fraternal communion, family spirit, good structure, collaboration with the laity, transparent management.
