On Sunday 28 January, in the parish church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary of Ifwanzondo, in the diocese of Idiofa, province of Kwilu, 37 students of the institute Saint John Bosco received the first communion during the Mass presided over by the prefect of their institute, Father Joël Kalaki. 29 of them were baptized on the same occasion. All followed the catechesis provided for a year by the pastoral leader Baudouin Mushete. The novices of the Oblate novitiate Brother Muke of Ifwanzondo passed a test at about 50 and they retained the 37.

In the homily, Father Kalaki insisted on the testimony of life which students, aged 12 to 19, will now have to bear as convinced Christians. Let them be recognized by their good works as Jesus said.

One parent, received permission from the celebrant to address the newly baptized and communicators. Jean-Pierre Mutitungu, over 50 years old, urged young people to be courageous in order to defend the Catholic faith in all circumstances.

The festive day continued with a meal offered to the newly baptized and communicators by the Oblate missionary community of Ifwanzondo. A football match saw the teachers of the institute Saint Jean Bosco beat by 1 goal to 0 the students' team. And in the evening, after steps of traditional dance (kayindula), a film about Saint John Bosco reminded young people of the patron saint on whose steps Oblate missionaries intend to lead young men and girls today.
