Yesterday, December 09, in the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, a solemn Mass was celebrated in the chapel of the scholasticate of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate of the Congo in Kintambo-Kinshasa.

During this Mass presided over by Father Constant Kienge-Kienge, Provincial Superior of the Congo, Bishop Louis Mbwol Mpasi, Oblate, Bishop Emeritus of Idiofa, proceeded to the institution of five readers, Oblate scholastics of provinces of Africa-Madagascar: Adukumbe Collins (Nigeria), Muwele Crispin (DRC), Fibane Benjamin (Cameroon), Beba Raphaël (Nigeria) and eight acolytes: Anagwaonye Innocent (Nigeria), Bunkatu Gad (DRC), Kwaritanga Guillaume (DRC), Ogbodo Charles ( Nigeria), Kuli Mordecai (DRC), Ngombyo Hugues (DRC), Udoudo Patrick (Nigeria) and Mulumba Augustin (RDC, Augustinian of Saint Maurice).
In his homily, the Provincial emphasized the special importance of this feast for the Oblate family, Mary being venerated as Mother of the Congregation. Recalling Constitution 10, he invited all Oblates to contemplate Mary as a model and spiritual guide.
Addressing the newly appointed ministers, Father Kienge-Kienge urged them to faithfully serve the Church by proclaiming the Word of God and assisting the priest at the altar.

This celebration brought together a particularly large community: in addition to the Oblates of Kinshasa, it brought together nuns and religious from neighbouring communities as well as a strong delegation of the lay Oblate associates from Kinshasa, Kikwit and Angola, at the end of their general assembly closed the day before in Kinshasa.
During the Mass, Father Adolphe Vunga, head of the Oblate district of Kinshasa, read out the message of the Superior General on the occasion of the feast of the Immaculate Conception of Mary.
The celebration ended with a moment of conviviality around a glass of friendship.
